James Bond
James Bond is an espionage agent in the employ of the British Secret Service. He is one of the top secret agents in the world. As a member of the elite 'double-O' group - his designation being 007 - he is licensed to kill while on a mission.
James Bond, the gentleman spy, was introduced in the novel Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. The success of this and subsequent Bond novels attracted the motion picture industry, and in 1962 Dr. No was brought to the screen, introducing the world at large to the character. In that film - as well as several others - Bond was portrayed by actor Sean Connery, who epitomizes the character to many filmgoers to this day. Other actors to have played Bond include George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan. In 2007 producers 'rebooted' the Bond character with a new actor and updated settings in a revamped Casino Royale. This came 40 years after a previous filmed version of the novel that was played for laughs, in which David Niven played the legendary spy, with a bumbling Peter Sellers taking his place.
